In a change of direction for the New Year, Sounderground present their 9th release, this time assisted by French producer, Art Bleek. Following in the footsteps of an ever-growing list of quality producers on the label, Art is a welcome addition and brings with him a touch of “je ne sais quoi”, in the form of the Escapism EP. A true musician in every sense, his credentials speak for themselves. Having started playing the piano at the tender age of 6, and then enrolling at the prestigious conservatory age 9, he went on to graduate with honours. A full scholarship at the prestigious Berklee School of Music and a work placement in a top Paris recording studio saw Art hone his production skills further. His versatility is self evident with the diverse range of labels he has already worked with including, Connaisseur and Resopal Red, to Rush Hour and Loungin Records. Escapism EP re-affirms Arts ability and talent as an artist, with an EP that has its foundations rooted firmly amongst the finer elements of house. The title cut Escapism, steps forward with a premise of distant places and hazy after hours. Subtle chords and melodic rhythms twist throughout, constantly building and pushing the track, alongside lush pads and a low slung bassline. The remix duties for Escapism were in the capable hands of rising star, Max Heesen aka Langenberg, who is already gaining plaudits for his releases on Drumpoet Community, and Sthlmaudio. Taking the original and stripping it back to a more spacious and sexy affair, fermenting in the perfect deep house bomb! Coldest Point is more emotive and slow building, melodically perfect for creating tension and space. Lady Luck rounds off the EP with a little more bump and bounce! Enjoy.
